Request that the Board of Commissioners receive information on an educational project to build a Charters of Freedom Monument in Brunswick County. |
| | | | | | | | Background/Purpose of Request:
Foundation Forward, Inc. is an organization that builds Charters of Freedom Monuments in communities across the county. The Charters of Freedom consist of The Declaration of Independence, The United States Constitution, and The Bill of Rights. The purpose of this educational project is to provide easy access for everyone to these founding documents. The monuments are placed in prominent outdoor locations where there is high foot-traffic and easy access for school children. Typically the monuments are located in the county seat, central to the surrounding communities and are similar to the display of the original founding documents in the Rotunda of The National Archives in Washington, DC. Foundation Forward, Inc. will present information on how Brunswick County can bring this project to the citizens of the county. |
