Action Item # X. - 4.

Request that the Board of Commissioners approve Final Adjusting Change Order No. 1 with Wells Brothers Construction for the 2016 Enterprise Funded Sewer Extension Project increasing the contract from $770,499.50 to $792,251.62 for an increase of $22,252.12 and approve an agreement with the Town of Boiling Spring Lakes providing compensation valued at $18,610 for street repaving. 

The construction contract change order reflects various additions and subtractions to unit price items as well as liquidated damages assessed to the contractor due to schedule noncompliance.  The majority of cost increases were due to an increase in depth of gravity sewer due to utility conflicts and pavement repairs on aging streets with minimal depth of pavement.  The agreement with the Town of Boiling Spring Lakes will provide $18,610 reimbursement to be used to cover a portion of the town’s repaving costs in lieu of patching pavement that is in great need of repair.  The pavement on the roads is nearing its life expectancy and a contribution to the repaving project was deemed more effective than repairing aged asphalt.

Staff recommends approval of Final Adjusting Change Order No. 1 with Wells Brothers Construction in the amount of $22,252.12 and approval of the agreement with the Town of Boiling Spring Lakes in the amount of $18,610.
