Issue/Action Requested:
Request that after the Public Hearing, the Board of Commissioners approve First and Second Readings of the proposed amendment to the Brunswick County Unified Development Ordinance (Z-17-758CZ) from SBR-6000 (High Density Site Built Residential) to RRCZ (Rural Low Density Residential Conditional Zoning).
Background/Purpose of Request:

The proposed zoning from SBR-6000 (High Density Site Built Residential) to RRCZ (Rural Low Density Residential Conditional Zoning) would allow for rural low density uses that include Mining Operations (Class 1), Single Family Detached Residential, Accessory Building, and Planned Development (Note that this use is subject to approval by Planning Board per the Brunswick County Unified Development Ordinance) for portions of Tax Parcel 18500008 and Tax Parcel 1850001707 located off Southport-Supply Road SE (NC 211). This rezoning totals approximately 12.92 acres. The site plan conditions have been agreed up by the owners and are attached.

 

At the 13-Nov-17 meeting, Mr. Phil Norris indicated that an application has been submitted to the State for the proposed mining operation. Ms. Rosa Gardner expressed concern with the potential of her property value being decreased. However, property values are assessed by the Brunswick County Tax Office and could not be addressed by the Planning Board.

At its meeting on 13-Nov-17, the Planning Board voted to recommend approval of the conditional zoning.
