Administration - NCHIP Resolution to Participate (Ann Hardy, County Manager)
Issue/Action Requested:
Request that the Board of Commissioners receive information on the NCHIP Employee Health Insurance Program and adopt a resolution of intent to participate beginning FY 19.
Background/Purpose of Request:
The county staff has explored with Gallagher to join a pool of other NC governments to provide employee health benefits. The plan would be administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield and there would be a 2 year commitment that no covered individuals would be lasered as high cost claimants. This is a fully insured plan that would provide long term stability for the employee health plan and may present the opportunity to affordably offer spouse health insurance options and retain the existing benefit levels for employees and their children.
