Background/Purpose of Request:
Request for Qualifications was released soliciting firm interest in the project. Eight firms returned their qualifications in interest of the project. The submissions were reviewed and all firms were invited to submit proposals. Two firms choose to not submit to the RFP. The other six firms submitted proposals. Staff presented all six proposals to the Steering Committee on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
After the presentations, the Steering Committee ranked the firms in the following order:
1. McGill & Associates
2. Clark Patterson Lee
3. Thomas & Hutton
McGill & Associates was the #1 selection by the Steering Committee members (5 ballots out of 5 ballots) and therefore is the recommended firm for the project.
Staff is proposing to work with McGill & Associates for construction design and engineering. The general agreement for design, engineering and surveying has been negotiated to roughly 6% of the estimated construction costs.
It is estimated that the full project will cost about $1.5 million.
McGill Associates is located in Shallotte.
Staff recommends approval of the contract in the amount of $95,000 with McGill Associates which is in the project budget.
