Background/Purpose of Request:
The Long Bay Artificial Reef Association has interest in the abandoned concrete sail boat in question and will reach out to the NC Division of Marine Fisheries - the agency that would be responsible for permitting disposal to an artificial reef. In the past, the NC Division of Marine Fisheries has denied disposal of a similar concrete sailing vessel at a reef site because of the nature of the concrete.
If the boat is deemed to be appropriate for such reef disposal, Long Bay Artificial Reef Association would consider leading the permitting and project development process, but that it would not be a quick process. |
