Action Item # V. - 17. From: Andrea White
| Governing Body - Resolution Opposing Divisive Theories |
|
| | | | | | | | Issue/Action Requested: Request that the Board of Commissioners consider a Resolution opposing the divisive theories, such as "Critical Race Theory", "Action Civics" and "The 1619 Project". |
| | | | | | | | Background/Purpose of Request:
The replacement of our history with divisive theories, such as “Critical Race Theory”, “Action Civics”, “The 1619 Project” and the like have been or are being considered for adoption as part of the curriculum in many public schools and counties throughout North Carolina and the United States. The inclusion of such theories in the classroom is an intentional effort to indoctrinate children with a specific political ideology, and that such efforts undercut parents’ ability to mentor their children. |
