Utilities - Job Position Adjustment

Issue/Action Requested:

Request that the Board of Commissioners approve the adjustment of two job descriptions and associated grade changes for two open positions.

Background/Purpose of Request:

Due to the ongoing expansion of the utility system and associated need for additional management staffing within the Department it is recommended that two positions be adjusted.  Both positions are open due to vacancies.  It is recommended that the open Project Coordinator (Grade 73) position be changed to a Deputy Director - Design & Construction (Grade 78) and the Utility System Electrician (65) be changed to a Wastewater Collections Supervisor (69).  The Utility Systems Electrician position was recently advertised and there were no qualified applicants.  Modification of the requirements of the position will not only encourage more applicants but will allow for the delegation of additional responsibility in order to provide additional direction to staff and a higher level of customer service.
