Request that the Board of Commissioners approve a resolution to authorize the receipt of a Governor Highway Safety Program grant, which will allow for the reimbursement of travel and equipment expenses in the amount of $25,000 with no county match. The grant supports GHSP's Region 3 Law Enforcement Liaison position; a Sheriff's Office member was recently appointed to that position. |
| | | | | | | | Background/Purpose of Request:
The LEL position in this region helps to organize and facilitate large speed and other traffic-related campaigns on behalf of the GHSP. This person also attends necessary meetings, training, and other events on behalf of this region and in support of the many law enforcement agencies. Some of the equipment items that will be purchased with the grant funds include four radars and one lidar system to assist in speed-related GHSP campaigns. The grant term is for one year but will reapply annually while the LEL remains as an agency member. |
