Request that the Board of Commissioners approve a budget amendment and authorize the Chairman and Clerk to the Board to execute the Task Order #1 with McKim & Creed, P.A. in an amount not to exceed $40,000 for engineering services associated with the On-Call Engineering Contract Task Order No. 1. |
| | | | | | | | Background/Purpose of Request:
On August 19, 2020, the Board of Commissioners approved the Notice of Award for On-Call Engineering Services with multiple firms, including McKim & Creed P.A., McKim & Creed was selected to perform engineering services and assistance during the repair operation for the 48” raw water main break that occurred on Thursday November 4, 2021. McKim & Creed also acts as Lower Cape Fear Water & Sewer Authority’s engineer and has an intimate knowledge of the system as well as relationships with all the affected utilities. McKim & Creed’s Task Order No. 1 is to develop a design for a temporary bypass in conjunction with the County’s emergency on-call contractor (State Utility) as well as provide technical assistants to County staff and the contractor, provide coordination and communication during the bypass and repair process, and provide resident project representation during the bypass and repair construction process.
Brunswick County is under contract to operate LCFWSA’s raw water line and as such is responsible for undertaking the design and repair of the line. All cost incurred by Brunswick associated with the design and repair shall be reimbursed by LCFWSA per the contract. |
