Brunswick County IT has been using the “Data Domain Virtual Edition” (DDVE) and “Data Protection Suite” (DPS4VM) for approximately three years as the backup solution for County critical applications and data.  This solution provides Brunswick County with backup redundancy with both on-premise and virtual instances. The DDVE (Data Doman Virtual Edition) is our virtual cloud backup appliance and DPS4VM (Data Protection Suite) is the software used to run this service.  Having this system in place, allows Brunswick County IT the ability to restore data, in a timely manner, in the event of a security breech or system crash. Funding for the continuation of this service is usually included in the service and maintenance contracts line item within the IT budget.  This $26,626 should have been included in the IT Budget Request for FY22 but was mistakenly excluded because of a misunderstanding of the pricing information provided by the vendor. We are requesting a budget amendment for these funds to be added to the current IT budget allowing us to move forward with processing payment without experiencing an interruption in service.
