Background/Purpose of Request:
Through agreements with the Compass Pointe Property Owner’s Association and property owners within the subdivision, Irrigation, LLC provides untreated water for irrigation to property owner’s and common areas within the Compass Pointe subdivision. Irrigation, LLC has indicated they currently do this through wells that discharge into several ponds which then use pumps to distribute the untreated water into an irrigation piping system. They would like to have an additional source of raw water for irrigation and have requested that the County provide raw water to them.
Through its agreement with the Lower Cape Fear Water & Sewer Authority, Brunswick County has available raw water capacity and a very limited raw water transmission system that can be extended to the Compass Pointe Development. The developer would be required to install the piping and metering systems to extend the raw water to their development and deed this infrastructure to the County. Payment for the service would be in accordance with the attached agreement but is reflective of the County’s cost for raw water and typical drinking water base fees. The agreement term is set at fifteen years and is for non-essential use, meaning that the service may be suspended in order to fulfill any raw water needs for drinking water demands.
Staff recommends approval of the Raw Water Supply Agreement for Irrigation with Irrigation, LLC. |
