Library - Nonrecurring State Aid to Libraries


Issue/Action Requested: Request the Board of Commissioners approve the acceptance of Nonrecurring State Aid to Libraries for Brunswick County Library.

Background/Purpose of Request:

The State Library of North Carolina received ARPA funding to distribute and each library system in NC is a beneficiary of those funds.

Funds from the American Recovery Act have gone through the NC Pandemic Recovery Office to the State Library of NC to assist local libraries throughout the state. Brunswick County is currently eligible for $89,046. As a beneficiary of these funds, Brunswick County Library can spend the funds on carpet replacement, landscaping improvements, staff salaries, and e-books among other pre-approved projects.


Fiscal Impact: Budget Amendment Required, Reviewed By Director of Fiscal Operations Budget amendment appropriates $89,046 of ARP federal revenues awarded to the NC Dept. of Natural and Cultural Resources State Library of NC to aid libraries. Libraries are considered beneficiaries of the ARP funding. Funds will be used to cover materials, salaries, equipment, and operating costs
