Request that the Board of Commissioners approve change order 3, the final adjusting change order, in the amount of $320,984.74, and a time extension of 280 calendar days for work associated with the Northeast Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant 2.5 MGD Expansion project. This will adjust the total contract amount to $42,308,857.03. The project was substantially complete and operational April 1, 2022, but due to minor issues, final completion is scheduled to November 27, 2022. |
| | | | | | | | Background/Purpose of Request:
By action taken October 7, 2019, the Board of Commissioners approved appropriations and execution of a contract with T. A. Loving Company to construct a 2.5 MGD expansion of the Northeast Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project will result in the plant having a total capacity of 4.975 MGD. By action taken June 21, 2021, and December 6, 2021, The Board of Commissioners approved two (2) change orders bringing the contract value to $41,987,872.29.
Several challenges were faced; late-stage design changes initiated by the engineer as well as unforeseen issues that arose while nearing completion and startup of the plant. Additional work and materials were ordered to address these issues to finalize construction. Included are the engineer’s letter of recommended changes and additions along with all supporting documentation for the additional work needed for completion. The plant is currently online and operating and has been certified to the State.
Staff recommends approval of the final adjusting change order amount of $320,984.74 and extending the contract completion deadline by 280 days. The final contract amount will become $42,308,857.03 and the final project completion date will be November 27, 2022. |
