Action Item # V. - 17.

Request that the Board of Commissioners approve a Resolution Authorizing Purchase under the Sole Source Exception to the bidding requirements in accordance with NCGS 143-129 (e) (6) and approve the purchase of replacement parts and new pieces of equipment from Clearwater, Inc., for proprietary Lakeside Equipment Corporation’s systems used in wastewater treatment.

The West Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to treat 6 million gallons of wastewater per day and utilizes a Lakeside proprietary treatment system and replacement parts or new pieces of equipment associated with the system are required from time to time.  In accordance with NCGS 143-129(e)(6) bidding exceptions may be granted to the local government for direct purchase when a needed product is available from only one source of supply.  ClearWater Inc., is the Sole Source representative for all Lakeside equipment (Sole Source letter attached).  The Bidding Exception list has been updated to reflect this addition.

Staff recommends approval of the Resolution Authorizing Purchase under Sole Source Exception in accordance with NCGS 143-129 (e) (6).
